Practice Practice Practice

She said she couldn’t draw

For years she’d try

But with the pages smudged

The charcoal lines not in her control

She‘d crumple the pages

Toss them aside

After so long she gave up

Failure haunting her and

Scaring the art away

The world was a little grayer

When her heart decided to

Just stop trying

One day, without thought

She started to doodle

No thoughts, no fears

Just a pen making swirls

On a printed page

She walked away and

When she came back

Surprise coursed through

Her warm blood

The work was beautiful

Pride and glee danced

Shimmied and giggled in her heart

As she finally appreciated

The practice, practice to art
